Sometimes, teeth drift throughout life as a result of functional and muscular forces. The resulting position of the teeth, although still healthy, leaves something to be desired. With an upcoming high school reunion, this patient was ready for a change. Nine months of Invisalign, followed by Essix retainers returned her smile to where it was meant to be. Ironically, the result helped her get voted least changed by her former classmates at the reunion.

A downside of being in the dental field is you get very picky about the appearance of your teeth. This lower bridge was not as good as it could be and Keren was also experiencing wear due to the arrangement of her upper teeth. Invisalign orthodontics was utilized to realign the teeth. The gum tissue in the area of the missing teeth was then re-sculpted before the Empress fused to Zirconia bridge was placed.

Sometimes, despite all your great oral hygiene and care, and several attempts at bleaching, your teeth never quite get to the appearance you want. This patient had an anterior tooth that had been injured at a young age which required a root canal, and although the function was good, her tooth size just didn’t quite fill the space allowed. Eight Empress veneers were placed with the result being a beautiful, dynamic smile.

Sometimes well-meaning treatment is done to replace missing teeth but unfortunately it fails to restore the beauty of a smile. You put up with it for a long time and then you are finally ready for a change. Pre-treatment evaluation revealed that tooth height could be improved for the missing teeth with proper manipulation of the supporting gum tissue under the bridges. The necessary cosmetic gum recontouring was done to allow the missing teeth to be placed in an esthetic manner, and temporary bridges were placed to allow healing for three months. Final placement of two EMax bridges overlayed with Empress porcelain and two Empress veneers on the first bicuspid teeth resulted in an enviable smile.

Sometimes you don’t really need to change anything, just freshen it up. Ten empress crowns and veneers were placed which in addition to giving the desired cosmetic result, also made great improvements in the strength of the patient’s posterior dentition. A more energetic, brighter smile that still truly fits the man is the result.

Sometimes all you have to do is restore the teeth and get out of the way. When this patient was young, she needed veneers on her anterior teeth because of tetracycline staining. Later, sadly, while she was working in a dental office, they needed replacement, and the dentist tried to make them look natural with marginal results. In our office, she did long term bleaching of her lower teeth as well as her remaining upper teeth. The back surface of the upper teeth were also bleached to allow for more natural appearance of the resulting restorations. Ten Empress veneer restorations were then placed with stunning results.

Yes, this is the same person. What you are witnessing is an effect called a “Smile Lift”. Through proper contouring of the new restorations, the lips can naturally rise to a new, more energetic position, giving the patient a smile they haven’t seen for years. The more impressive thing is that start to finish, this can be achieved in a matter of weeks, or in some cases even in days. And for this patient, most of her teeth had large restorations whose strength and durability was enhanced by the eight Empress veneers and four porcelain fused to precious metal crowns which were used to restore her mouth.

When you work with the public in the health care industry, you need your smile to look healthy and perfectly natural. This patient chose to have their upper anterior six teeth veneered with Empress Ceramic veneers. The resulting smile is both natural and perfect and conveys the healthy appearance she desired.

These teeth never erupted fully when the patient was young. The patient had six months of Invisalign followed by cosmetic gum recontouring to give her the results she wanted without any restorations.

The patient had overlapping central incisors, large failing restorations on the lateral incisors, and a deep overbite of the upper teeth to the lower teeth. We wanted a durable restoration that would blend with his natural teeth but also allow us to keep the back side thin so that his bite would remain comfortable. Four Porcelain fused to metal restorations were used with custom shading to match the natural teeth. The results eliminated the obvious deficiencies of the previous restorations, yet still retain a strong masculine character that blends well with the rest of the patient’s smile.
