Do You Suffer from Symptoms of Sleep Apnea?
Did you know that 1 in 5 people suffer from a sleep disorder, yet only 1-2% of people who have a disorder are diagnosed?
Often, people who suspect they may have a disorder like sleep apnea don’t discuss it with their doctor or dentist because the idea of sleeping with an oxygen mask (CPAP machine) is so unappealing.
Unfortunately, sleep disorders can cause serious medical problems. Constant fatigue is only one of the consequences. People with untreated sleep apnea can have strokes, hypertension and heart attacks.
That’s why it’s important to get a diagnosis and treatment.
Wildhorse Dental is excited to be able to provide Chesterfield and Wildwood patients treatment for sleep apnea.
Dr. Larson has obtained the status as a Qualified Dentist by the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. Dr. Larson is a member of St. Luke’s Allied Health Staff and can refer patients who have demonstrated sleep apnea symptoms to St. Luke’s Department of Sleep Medicine. There they can conduct a sleep study for a final diagnosis.
When appropriate, he can construct an oral appliance that can act as a comfortable alternative when patients aren’t able to comply with CPAP therapy.
We offer a variety of different appliances depending on the patients needs. In many instances it will be covered by medical insurance.
